![]() ![]() When I’m not inside the walls of District, you might find me taking a trail hike with my pup, or messing around in my garden. My goal is to help people move better, feel stronger and decrease pain by incorporating mobility, balance, and natural movements into strength training sessions. ![]() The past 6 years I’ve worked with older adults working on improving posture, balance, mobility and strength, as well as instructing group balance, strength and aquatic classes. I graduated with a BS in Kinesiology from the University of Rhode Island. I’ve dabbled in many types of athletics ranging from college gymnastics and fencing, to powerlifting and CrossFit, but I now find myself more drawn towards barefoot natural movement and play as a way of expressing strength and movement variability. NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, TFC Foot Nerd, FMS, MovNat Certified Trainer Now, as a newly-certified instructor, I’m excited to have the opportunity to continue investing into the DAC community by supporting our members through their fitness journeys while encouraging them to go after their goals inside and outside of the gym. DAC has been a space where the coaching staff has challenged and supported me as an athlete to master the fundamentals of functional fitness while establishing-and maintaining-a sustainable nutrition regiment that helps me hit my personal, professional, and fitness goals. It is the place I look forward to coming to preserve my mental health, hang out with friends, and “work hard play hard” for at least 1-2 hours daily. Since then, the District Athletic Club (formerly CFNH) has been my home away from home. After taking several years away from active training and physical fitness, I began my CrossFit journey in Detroit in October 2016 at CrossFit BMW before moving to CT in August 2017 to begin my PhD program at Yale. As an athlete, I stopped competing competitively in sports in 2008 after being a part of a conference championship winning Division III track and field team. Throughout my life, sports and fitness has always afforded me environments where I was “safe” and protected from whatever was happening outside the walls of the courts, fields, or gyms I played in-they were tools of mental health and physical fitness. ![]() I believe all people deserve to have equitable access to that resources that will enable them to life happy, healthy and safe lives. But there is something different about being in the gym when you get to lose the formal dress code and really connect with people for who they are and not what they do. In both jobs my goal is to help people improve their lives, whether it’s financially or physically – and for that I consider myself lucky. When CFNH offered me the opportunity to do something I am so passionate about, and was able to provide the flexibility I needed to work around my career as a financial consultant, I jumped at it. Helping people succeed has always been another. My favorite coaching moments are when an athlete has that “ah-ha” moment during a lift when the timing, adjustments, and components of the movement sync up to make the perfect lift – the one you’ve been telling them would come with patience and perfect practice – and suddenly the gates are open and this athlete has become a weightlifting machine!ĬrossFit Level 1 Trainer Certificate – July 2016įitness has always been a big part of my life.
